Today marks 5 years to the day I clawed my way out of the Antelope Valley and moved to Santa Clarita. Moving here tripled my rent from the little one bedroom duplex I had off the 138 in Pearblossom, this made losing my job at Verizon Wireless the exact same day pretty darn scary!
It has been a wild and thrilling 5 years here in Santa Clarita that I wouldn’t trade for the world. I have made many friends and have learned a ton! I am looking forward to the next 5 years, I am confident they will be better then these last 5 years.
Aleks and I signed up for the Santa Monica 5000 on Sunday, September 12th. We saw a deal online for $20 which is half price, before I even finished asking Aleks whether she was interested, she had already signed up! I can’t keep up with her sometimes…
We will probably just do the 5k since we are still two months out from the Santa Clarita Marathon, where we plan on doing the half marathon.
This was the project that never ended. I actually started working on this in January 2010 to help out my friend Sgt. Harris who was put in charge of this huge project. He thinks big and didn’t want to leave anyone or anything out so this book grew from an initial estimate of 40 pages to almost 80! This book went through endless rounds of editing from Sgt Harris, to Aleks, all the way up the command lines to the head quarters of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department. I won’t bore anyone with the details… but its August and we hope that it will finally get printed!
Saturday Night was awesome. Aleks and I had fun in Pasadena, he went there because they just opened a brand new Arclight and Intelligentsia.
Intelligentsia was magical as always. Got the usual, 2 cafe mochas along with a interesting sour cream muffin thing. Then we headed over to the Yardhouse which was suppose to be a 40 minutes wait but magically 2 spots at the bar opened up right in front of us, so we grabbed those. I was about to order a Heineken when Aleks started making fun of me, “You are at the Yardhouse with 100 beers on tap and you wanna go with a Heineken?”
