Leave This Town? Perhaps it should be called leave this on the Shelf!

Leave This Town is the sophomore album release for the American Idol Contestant turned pop star sensation Daughtry. I am personally not a fan of American Idol, but I did like Daughtry’s Self Titled first Album. It was one of those guilty pleasures that I tried to forget was also being listened to by 12 year old girls everywhere!

Daughtry’s Leave this Town was preceded by the unimpressive single “No Surprise”, which was written by Daughtry and Nickelback front man Chad Kroeger. What was a surprise was how luke warm the track was and why they would lead with such an mediocre track. Most band usually lead with one of their best tracks, the sad part is that is actually true with Leave This Town. It sounds like Daughtry is trying to cross over into country in half of these tracks, the only guest musician on this album was Vince Gill! If he is going to continue to put out albums like this, he might wanna think about going country. That audience is very easy to please and they will pretty much buy anything the big names put out no matter how bad, just look at George Straight! He has like 50 albums that all sound identical!

Leave This Town hit store shelves on July 14th, and I recommend that it stays on the store shelf. This album is destined to be quickly forgotten and could spell the end of Daughtry’s career, unless he buckles down and really knocks it out of the park with his next album. Record companies are typically forgiving of a Sophomore Slump…

Overall Album Rating – Rating: ★★½☆☆ // Grade = F
